﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ …﴾ ﴿قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ …﴾ ﴿قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ …﴾
Qul huwa llāhu aḥad · Qul aʿūdhu bi-rabbi l-falaq · Qul aʿūdhu bi-rabbi n-nās (×3)
The three protective sūrahs (al-Ikhlāṣ, al-Falaq, an-Nās), three times each. Whoever says them morning and evening, they will suffice him in everything.
Repeat 3×Abū Dāwūd 5082, at-Tirmidhī 3575 (Qur'an 112–114)اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ، لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ، لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ، مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ، يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ، وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ، وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ، وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا، وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ
Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwa l-ḥayyu l-qayyūm, lā taʾkhudhuhu sinatun wa lā nawm…
Allah — there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth … His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not tire Him. He is the Most High, the Magnificent.
Qur'an 2:255 (Āyat al-Kursī)بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَرْقِيكَ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يُؤْذِيكَ، مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ نَفْسٍ أَوْ عَيْنِ حَاسِدٍ، اللَّهُ يَشْفِيكَ، بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَرْقِيكَ
Bismillāhi arqīk, min kulli shayʾin yuʾdhīk, min sharri kulli nafsin aw ʿayni ḥāsid, Allāhu yashfīk, bismillāhi arqīk
In the name of Allah I perform ruqyah over you — against everything that harms you, against the evil of every soul and every envious eye. May Allah cure you. In the name of Allah I perform ruqyah over you. (Jibrīl ﷺ recited this over the Prophet ﷺ.)
Muslim 2186اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، أَذْهِبِ الْبَاسَ، اشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا
Allāhumma rabba n-nās, adhhibi l-bās, ishfi anta sh-shāfī, lā shifāʾa illā shifāʾuk, shifāʾan lā yughādiru saqamā
O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the affliction and heal — You are the Healer. There is no cure but Your cure, a cure that leaves no illness behind. (Said while passing the right hand over the sick person.)
al-Bukhārī 5675, Muslim 2191بِسْمِ اللَّهِ (٣) — أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ (٧)
Bismillāh (×3) — Aʿūdhu billāhi wa qudratihi min sharri mā ajidu wa uḥādhir (×7)
Place your hand on the place of pain and say three times: In the name of Allah. Then seven times: I seek refuge in Allah and in His power from the evil that I feel and fear.
Repeat 7×Muslim 2202بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تُرْبَةُ أَرْضِنَا، بِرِيقَةِ بَعْضِنَا، يُشْفَىٰ سَقِيمُنَا، بِإِذْنِ رَبِّنَا
Bismillāh, turbatu arḍinā, bi-rīqati baʿḍinā, yushfā saqīmunā, bi-idhni rabbinā
In the name of Allah. The earth of our land, with the saliva of one of us — that our sick may be healed, by the permission of our Lord. (Said over a wound or sore.)
al-Bukhārī 5745, Muslim 2194أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ
Asʾalu llāha l-ʿaẓīma rabba l-ʿarshi l-ʿaẓīmi an yashfiyak
I ask Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Mighty Throne, to cure you. (Seven times at the sick person's side; if his time has not come, Allah cures him of it.)
Repeat 7×at-Tirmidhī 2083, Abū Dāwūd 3106لَا بَأْسَ، طَهُورٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ
Lā baʾsa, ṭahūrun in shāʾa llāh
No harm — may it be a purification, if Allah wills. (Said when visiting the sick.)
al-Bukhārī 3616اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَدَنِي، اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي سَمْعِي، اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
Allāhumma ʿāfinī fī badanī, Allāhumma ʿāfinī fī samʿī, Allāhumma ʿāfinī fī baṣarī, lā ilāha illā ant…
O Allah, grant my body health, O Allah, grant my hearing health, O Allah, grant my sight health; there is no god but You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave; there is no god but You.
Repeat 3×Abū Dāwūd 5090, Aḥmad 20430أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Aʿūdhu bi-kalimāti llāhi t-tāmmāti min sharri mā khalaq
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
Repeat 3×Muslim 2708الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِمَّا ابْتَلَاكَ بِهِ، وَفَضَّلَنِي عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيلًا
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi lladhī ʿāfānī mimmā btalāka bih, wa faḍḍalanī ʿalā kathīrin mimman khalaqa tafḍīlā
All praise is due to Allah, who has spared me what He has afflicted you with, and favoured me over much of His creation. (Said quietly to oneself on seeing someone afflicted, without letting it hurt them.)
at-Tirmidhī 3432آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ
Āmantu billāhi wa rusulih
I believe in Allah and His messengers. (When Satan whispers doubts about faith: seek refuge in Allah, turn away from the thought, and say this.)
