10 supplications

• بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ، وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ، وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَكُمَا فِي خَيْرٍ

  Bāraka llāhu lak, wa bāraka ʿalayk, wa jamaʿa baynakumā fī khayr

  May Allah bless you, send His blessing upon you, and join you both in goodness. (Congratulating the newly married.)

  Abū Dāwūd 2130, at-Tirmidhī 1091

• اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا وَخَيْرَ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ

  Allāhumma innī asʾaluka khayrahā wa khayra mā jabaltahā ʿalayh, wa aʿūdhu bika min sharrihā wa sharri mā jabaltahā ʿalayh

  O Allah, I ask You for the good in her and the good of the nature You gave her, and I seek refuge in You from her evil and the evil of the nature You gave her. (Said on marrying, placing one's hand on the spouse's head.)

• بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ جَنِّبْنَا الشَّيْطَانَ وَجَنِّبِ الشَّيْطَانَ مَا رَزَقْتَنَا

  Bismillāh, Allāhumma jannibnā sh-shayṭāna wa jannibi sh-shayṭāna mā razaqtanā

  In the name of Allah. O Allah, keep Satan away from us, and keep Satan away from what You grant us. (Said before marital intimacy.)

  al-Bukhārī 141, Muslim 1434

• رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ

  Rabbi hab lī min ladunka dhurriyyatan ṭayyibah, innaka samīʿu d-duʿāʾ

  My Lord, grant me from Yourself good offspring. You are indeed the Hearer of supplication.

  Qur'an 3:38

• رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ

  Rabbi hab lī mina ṣ-ṣāliḥīn

  My Lord, grant me one of the righteous. (The supplication of Ibrāhīm ﷺ for offspring.)

  Qur'an 37:100

• رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

  Rabbanā hab lanā min azwājinā wa dhurriyyātinā qurrata aʿyunin wa-jʿalnā li-l-muttaqīna imāmā

  Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes, and make us a model for the God-fearing.

  Qur'an 25:74

• بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي الْمَوْهُوبِ لَكَ، وَشَكَرْتَ الْوَاهِبَ، وَبَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ، وَرُزِقْتَ بِرَّهُ

  Bāraka llāhu laka fī l-mawhūbi lak, wa shakarta l-wāhib, wa balagha ashuddah, wa ruziqta birrah

  May Allah bless you in the gift given to you; may you give thanks to the Giver, may the child reach full maturity, and may you be granted its devotion. (Congratulating a new parent.)

• أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

  Uʿīdhukumā bi-kalimāti llāhi t-tāmmah, min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmah, wa min kulli ʿaynin lāmmah

  I seek protection for you both in the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and vermin, and from every evil eye. (The Prophet ﷺ said this over al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn — the du'ā said over one's children.)

  al-Bukhārī 3371

• رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

  Rabbi-rḥamhumā kamā rabbayānī ṣaghīrā

  My Lord, have mercy on them both as they raised me when I was small. (A supplication for one's parents.)

  Qur'an 17:24

• جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا

  Jazāka llāhu khayrā

  May Allah reward you with good. (Said to someone who has done you a kindness — whoever says it has given praise in full.)
