أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
Ashhadu an lā ilāha illā llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, wa ashhadu anna Muḥammadan ʿabduhu wa rasūluh
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. (Said after ablution; the eight gates of Paradise are opened for whoever says it.)
Muslim 234اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ التَّوَّابِينَ وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
Allāhumma jʿalnī mina t-tawwābīna wa jʿalnī mina l-mutaṭahhirīn
O Allah, make me of those who turn to You in repentance and make me of those who keep themselves pure. (Said after ablution.)
at-Tirmidhī 55بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
Bismillāh, tawakkaltu ʿalā llāh, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh
In the name of Allah; I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah. (Said when leaving the house.)
Abū Dāwūd 5095, at-Tirmidhī 3426اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورًا، وَفِي لِسَانِي نُورًا، وَفِي سَمْعِي نُورًا، وَفِي بَصَرِي نُورًا، وَمِنْ فَوْقِي نُورًا، وَمِنْ تَحْتِي نُورًا، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي نُورًا، وَعَنْ شِمَالِي نُورًا، وَمِنْ أَمَامِي نُورًا، وَمِنْ خَلْفِي نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ لِي نُورًا
Allāhumma jʿal fī qalbī nūran, wa fī lisānī nūran, wa fī samʿī nūran, wa fī baṣarī nūrā…
O Allah, place light in my heart, light on my tongue, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light above me and below me, light on my right and my left, light before me and behind me, and grant me light. (Said on the way to the mosque.)
Muslim 763أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ، وَبِوَجْهِهِ الْكَرِيمِ، وَسُلْطَانِهِ الْقَدِيمِ، مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Aʿūdhu billāhi l-ʿaẓīm, wa bi-wajhihi l-karīm, wa sulṭānihi l-qadīm, mina sh-shayṭāni r-rajīm… Allāhumma-ftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatik
I seek refuge in Allah the Magnificent, in His noble Face and His eternal authority, from the accursed Satan. In the name of Allah; blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy. (Said when entering the mosque, right foot first.)
Abū Dāwūd 466, Muslim 713بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ، اللَّهُمَّ اعْصِمْنِي مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
Bismillāhi wa-ṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā rasūli llāh, Allāhumma innī asʾaluka min faḍlik, Allāhumma-ʿṣimnī mina sh-shayṭāni r-rajīm
In the name of Allah; blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty; O Allah, guard me from the accursed Satan. (Said when leaving the mosque, left foot first.)
Muslim 713, Ibn Mājah 773يَقُولُ مِثْلَ مَا يَقُولُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ، إِلَّا فِي «حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ» وَ«حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ» فَيَقُولُ: لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
…lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh
Repeat after the muezzin word for word; only at “Come to prayer” and “Come to success” say: There is no might nor power except with Allah.
al-Bukhārī 613, Muslim 385وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولًا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا
Wa anā ashhadu an lā ilāha illā llāh… raḍītu billāhi rabban wa bi-Muḥammadin rasūlan wa bi-l-islāmi dīnā
And I too bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. I am pleased with Allah as Lord, with Muhammad as Messenger and with Islam as religion. (Said after the muezzin's testimony; the one who says it is forgiven his sins.)
Muslim 386اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَٰذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ، وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ، آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ
Allāhumma rabba hādhihi d-daʿwati t-tāmmah, wa-ṣ-ṣalāti l-qāʾimah, āti Muḥammadan al-wasīlata wa-l-faḍīlah, wa-bʿathhu maqāman maḥmūdan alladhī waʿadtah
O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and of the prayer about to be established, grant Muhammad the wasīlah and the excellence, and raise him to the praised station You have promised him. (Said after the adhān; whoever says it receives the Prophet's ﷺ intercession.)
al-Bukhārī 614سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ، وَتَعَالَىٰ جَدُّكَ، وَلَا إِلَٰهَ غَيْرُكَ
Subḥānaka llāhumma wa bi-ḥamdik, wa tabāraka smuk, wa taʿālā jadduk, wa lā ilāha ghayruk
Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You; blessed is Your name, exalted is Your majesty, and there is no god but You. (The opening supplication of the prayer.)
Abū Dāwūd 775, at-Tirmidhī 243سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ (فِي الرُّكُوعِ) — سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَىٰ (فِي السُّجُودِ)
Subḥāna rabbiya l-ʿaẓīm (in rukūʿ) — Subḥāna rabbiya l-aʿlā (in sujūd)
Glory be to my Lord, the Magnificent (in bowing) — Glory be to my Lord, the Most High (in prostration). Three times each.
Repeat 3×Muslim 772, Abū Dāwūd 871رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي، رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي
Rabbi-ghfir lī, rabbi-ghfir lī
My Lord, forgive me; my Lord, forgive me. (Said sitting between the two prostrations.)
Abū Dāwūd 874اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ. اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā āli Muḥammad, kamā ṣallayta ʿalā Ibrāhīma wa ʿalā āli Ibrāhīm, innaka ḥamīdun majīd…
O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You sent prayers upon Ibrāhīm and the family of Ibrāhīm; indeed You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You blessed Ibrāhīm and the family of Ibrāhīm; indeed You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. (Said after the tashahhud.)
al-Bukhārī 3370, Muslim 406اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَمِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ
Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābi l-qabr, wa min ʿadhābi jahannam, wa min fitnati l-maḥyā wa-l-mamāt, wa min sharri fitnati l-masīḥi d-dajjāl
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, from the punishment of Hell, from the trial of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the Dajjāl. (Said before the closing salām of the prayer.)
