اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَىٰ عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي، فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
Allāhumma anta rabbī lā ilāha illā ant, khalaqtanī wa anā ʿabduk… (Sayyidu l-istighfār)
O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I keep Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favour upon me and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You. (The master supplication for forgiveness)
al-Bukhārī 6306أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
Astaghfirullāha l-ʿaẓīma lladhī lā ilāha illā huwa l-ḥayyu l-qayyūmu wa atūbu ilayh
I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Magnificent, besides whom there is no god, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, and I turn to Him in repentance. (Whoever says it is forgiven, even had he fled from the battlefield.)
Abū Dāwūd 1517, at-Tirmidhī 3577أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
Astaghfirullāha wa atūbu ilayh (×100)
I seek Allah's forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance (100×) — the Prophet ﷺ did so a hundred times a day.
Repeat 100×al-Bukhārī 6307, Muslim 2702اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا، وَلَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ وَارْحَمْنِي، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
Allāhumma innī ẓalamtu nafsī ẓulman kathīrā, wa lā yaghfiru dh-dhunūba illā ant, fa-ghfir lī maghfiratan min ʿindik wa-rḥamnī, innaka anta l-ghafūru r-raḥīm
O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly, and none forgives sins but You. So forgive me with a forgiveness from You, and have mercy on me. You are indeed the Forgiving, the Merciful. (Taught by the Prophet ﷺ to Abū Bakr to say in prayer.)
al-Bukhārī 834, Muslim 2705اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي كُلَّهُ، دِقَّهُ وَجِلَّهُ، وَأَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ، وَعَلَانِيَتَهُ وَسِرَّهُ
Allāhumma-ghfir lī dhanbī kullah, diqqahu wa jillah, wa awwalahu wa ākhirah, wa ʿalāniyatahu wa sirrah
O Allah, forgive me all my sin — the small of it and the great, the first of it and the last, the open of it and the hidden.
Muslim 483اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي خَطِيئَتِي وَجَهْلِي، وَإِسْرَافِي فِي أَمْرِي، وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي. اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي جِدِّي وَهَزْلِي، وَخَطَئِي وَعَمْدِي، وَكُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ عِنْدِي
Allāhumma-ghfir lī khaṭīʾatī wa jahlī, wa isrāfī fī amrī, wa mā anta aʿlamu bihi minnī. Allāhumma-ghfir lī jiddī wa hazlī, wa khaṭaʾī wa ʿamdī, wa kullu dhālika ʿindī
O Allah, forgive me my error and my ignorance, my excess in my affairs, and what You know better about me than I do myself. O Allah, forgive me what I did in earnest and in jest, by mistake and deliberately — all of that is found in me.
al-Bukhārī 6398, Muslim 2719لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Lā ilāha illā anta subḥānaka innī kuntu mina ẓ-ẓālimīn
There is no god but You. Glory be to You! I was indeed among the wrongdoers. (The supplication of Yūnus ﷺ — no Muslim calls with it but he is answered.)
at-Tirmidhī 3505 (Qur'an 21:87)رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Rabbanā ẓalamnā anfusanā wa in lam taghfir lanā wa tarḥamnā la-nakūnanna mina l-khāsirīn
Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall surely be among the losers. (The supplication of Ādam ﷺ.)
Qur'an 7:23اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allāhumma innaka ʿafuwwun tuḥibbu l-ʿafwa fa-ʿfu ʿannī
O Allah, You are Pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me. (The supplication the Prophet ﷺ taught ʿĀʾisha for the Night of Decree.)
at-Tirmidhī 3513رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ
Rabbi-ghfir lī wa tub ʿalayya innaka anta t-tawwābu r-raḥīm
My Lord, forgive me and accept my repentance. You are indeed the Accepter of repentance, the Merciful. (Counted a hundred times in a single sitting.)
Repeat 100×Abū Dāwūd 1516, at-Tirmidhī 3434سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ
Subḥānaka llāhumma wa bi-ḥamdik, ashhadu an lā ilāha illā ant, astaghfiruka wa atūbu ilayk
Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You; I bear witness that there is no god but You; I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance. (Said when leaving a gathering.)
